Netflix have dropped the first trailer for its Oscar hopeful Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
Based on Pulitzer Prize winner August Wilson’s play, the film is set in 1920’s Chicago as tensions rise between Ma Rainey, her ambitious horn player, and the white management determined to control the legendary “Mother of the Blues.”
Directed by Tony award winner George C. Wolfe, the film stars Viola Davis, Chadwick Boseman, Colman Domingo, Michael Potts, Glynn Turman, Dusan Brown and Taylour Paige.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom lands on selected big screens and on Netflix from December 18th, 2020.
