The first trailer has landed for Mangrove.
Mangrove is one of five original Small Axe films by Academy Award-winner Steve McQueen. The five hour-long stories, which centre around London’s West Indian community from the late 1960’s to the mid 1980’s, star Letitia Wright, John Boyega, Malachi Kirby and Rochenda Sandal, among many others, and are inspired by real-life people.
Fifty years ago, on 9 August 1970, 150 protesters marched against police harassment in Notting Hill. This is the true story of the Mangrove 9, a group of Black activists who were arrested for leading the protest and who changed British history by taking a stand against racial discrimination.
Small Axe will premiere on BBC One and iPlayer this autumn and will air on Prime Video in the US.
